Part way through Last Life, a corruption appears and it starts at Magical Mountain with a red crystal. Despite Rens warnings, Scar listens to the voice in his head that's clearly this red crystal and allows it to spread its corruption around the mountain with red vines. Ren flees and first goes to The Southlands to tell them about the situation. The Southlands let Ren stay with them and agree to help out with the corruption.
