The story follows after 2.0 when the third impact takes place. It follows the story of a high school boy (no relation to Shinji or main characters at all) who has just been killed off by the instrumentality project, because of this his soul has been donated to the Gates of Guf for a second chance. The founding fathers of the galaxy send him to an alternate world with the ability to summon and control the 18 different angels from the series. But while trying to do this his actions and very presence will cause unseen consequences as throughout his journey he will gather allies, create enemies for himself, discover and expose the secrets of some of the main cast, all in the potential hope of thwarting the efforts of Gendo and SEELE in order to change the fate of everyone and everything on the planet Earth.
