It's been a year since Varian was locked in jail and each day his anger grows. Soon a quick turn of events happen and he breaks out and finds a secret that his dad kept from him for a long time.

Hugo's life is far from boring- having a job surrounded by chemicals makes that pretty impossible, but when he meets someone a little bit weird, he realizes how different (and how much more magical) life can be. ~*~ Originally posted on ao3

*Tangled the Series fanfic btw* In this alternate universe, everything could have been nearly the same as the original. But something went wrong. During the fight in Old Corona, Varian was impaled by a black rock (oh so original Alonna). But he's been cursed to know follow Rapunzel where ever she goes. But only she could see him. Through his death, could they become friends again? Or were they destined to be enimies?

After completing the Trials of the 7 Kingdoms, Varian with his found family of Yong, Nuru, and new lover, Hugo, go to the Kingdom of Corona for the first time, though Varian may regret that. With consequences for his past actions lurking all around, most people of Corona still hating him, and things happening that should never have happened being make into this book. Only time will tell if Varian will need a new home or not.

Hugo could still place exactly where that stupid blue streak flowed against the rest of his hair. He could still count the freckles that dusted the tip of his nose and the edges of his cheeks. He could just about remember how his lip would curl when he smiled. It was lopsided- the left side of his mouth always pushed up just a little bit more than the right. He was a shadow, an echo of something he never deserved. He could still feel the rough calluses on his hands lightly scratch across his cheeks. And once it's revealed he's the moon drop villains will stop at nothing to get him in their clutches. (Hey this is my first story and please note this isn't going to follow the exact story. There are some major plot points in the show that I might change but please be aware this is just my fan fiction)

After a year of imprisonment for his crimes against Corona, Varian is forced to leave his cell mate behind to face the cold hard reality.
