Being one of only two out gay students in a sometimes not-so-open-minded high school has presented Jackson Humes with certain challenges. Even though all teenagers' lives are challenging in their own ways, Jackson's takes a complicated turn the day he catches Alex Cole in the guy's locker room posing in front of a mirror wearing nothing but a pair of dingy tighty whities. While the rest of the school worries that the recent mountain lion sightings in the woods might have something to do with the star quarterback's disappearance, Jackson worries that Alex is going to rearrange his face in a manner that will make any attempts at future dating impossible. When an unhinged Alex corners Jackson in the woods, Jackson responds by miraculously breaking the laws of gravity. He soon realizes that his emerging superpower is connected to a dark secret, forcefully suppressed after the long ago deaths of all those involved, including Jackson's own parents. But secrets don't stay buried forever, as Jackson is about to discover.

2020 WATTYS WINNER in NEW ADULT! Oliver Ausman has been given a second chance at life, but it's hard to feel grateful when he was the one trying to end it in the first place. Returning to his normal life after being released from the hospital is hard, especially since his parent's idea of normal is made up of dinner parties, prep school, fancy suits, and fake manners-- all paired with a complete disregard for the mental health of their firstborn. He's long been fed up with it, but the final straw is when he finds out that his "father" isn't actually his father at all. Oliver decides he's had enough of the perfect facade, so he packs a suitcase and grabs his younger brother, "borrowing" his mother's car to sneak off on a trip to find his biological father. But he never expected to pick up a girl with her own similar set of problems, to be followed across the country by a money-hungry pair of criminals, or most of all, to find out that maybe this life thing isn't as bad as he thought. It all started when she nearly ran over the new kid. Aarohi Keshav is the girl destined for Harvard- just like every other South Asian kid she knows. To the rest of the world, she's an artist, the girl who carries pepper spray at all times, the infamous ex of the school's golden boy quarterback, and a sole atheist in her devout Hindu community. But lately, something's been off, an impending sense of doom, a voice that screams in the back of her head. Unwanted thoughts, those she's never had threaten to rip her apart. She's been on her own, navigating these turbulent waters while putting up a brave front for the rest of the world. That is until a gorgeous, green-eyed, rogue-haired Jew moves next door and changes everything. When Paxton Enjelical moves in the middle of his junior year from his upscale neighborhood to the dusky suburbs of Texas, his only goal was of survival. Yet he can't help but be drawn to the fiery, raven-haired girl who's blackmailed into giving him rides after nearly running him over. She wants nothing to do with him. He's already got a nickname for her. It's the traditional recipe of chaos for these two as they discover the cracks beneath one another's surface. There are a billion secrets they're concealing from one another, and one might be just enough to rewrite this cliche romance. After all, you didn't think this was just any other boy meets girl story now, did you?
