Life has a twisted sense of humor, and Kishibe is about to become the punchline. For years, he's lived by a simple code: kill devils, train rookies who'll probably die anyway, and seduce women with practiced ease. Sure, Quanxi never fell for his charms, but who's counting? With a bottle in one hand and a cigarette in the other, Kishibe has perfected the art of drowning out the screams, the blood, and the endless parade of corpses that define a Devil Hunter's existence. In his rare moments of silence, though, a question haunts him: What if I'd chosen differently? Then fate answers. A phone call shatters an ordinary afternoon, not a telemarketer, not a wrong number, but a lawyer with impossible news. A woman from his past has died, leaving him something in her will. Kishibe expects nothing more than forgotten trinkets, maybe a dusty painting from a relative he can't recall. When he finds out what is, or more specifically who it is he's shocked to his core. A four-year-old boy clutches a cloud-patterned blanket to his chest, eyes wide and uncertain. The child has his mother's features, yes, but in the curve of his jaw, the set of his eyes, Kishibe sees the unmistakable shadow of himself staring back. Kenji. That's his name. The man who thought he'd die alone, another nameless hunter swallowed by the darkness, now holds the small hand of a son he never knew existed. This child, fragile, innocent, impossibly his, is about to unravel everything Kishibe thought he understood about life, death, and the razor's edge between them. But Kenji won't just change one cynical Devil Hunter's world. He'll change the worlds of many. The world watches. Waits. Wonders whether this boy will become its salvation, or its damnation. Some doors, once opened, can never be closed again.

Being a hero is a hard task, and not because of tough enemies, or the threat of death, but because it was about making a choice, a choice to take responsibility into one's own hands, and strike out for what they believed was right. In a world filled with far-out aliens and hellish demons, killer androids and super-powered maniacs, being a hero was even harder. From a young age, [Y/N] always had a keen understanding about what he believed was right and wrong, that people who hurt others for money and fame or out of sadistic enjoyment deserved punishment, that justice was necessary, and without it everything would fall apart. The death of his mother by the hands of some rogue gunman only solidified his resentment towards those he considered to be the scum of society. He had always wanted to be a hero, like Captain America or the Human Torch, from the comics he had always read, front to back. Men who held the power to change the world for the better, and weren't afraid to do what was right, despite what obstacles laid ahead of him. However, unlike his heroes, he held no superpower to help him on his path, no super-strength or speed, hardened skin or flaming skull, setting the rookie vigilante up for a bitter struggle. And yet, on a day that would have appeared just like any other, upon the seemingly unimportant bite from a strange, discoloured spider. On a less-than-interesting field trip, he would be granted the powers needed to fight for his convictions. the ability to now truly make those who hurt others pay for their actions. He made a promise as a child that he would make the world a better place, a world where people like his mother wouldn't have had to die, and he intended to follow through on that promise to the very end...

Officials say he doesn't exist. Just a shared ether induced hallucination. But the stories, how they continue to pile up. How could he not be real? Whatever you believe, the stories have become a deeply ingrained part of New Eridu. Everyone's heard at least one person claimed to be saved by him. "You're asking about the Saint? Ah, it's a nice tale. Makes the children feel just a little safer when it comes to the Hollows. I doubt it's true... but we could always use a little more hope." -Kind Old Lady off the Street "Urgh! I don't get what everyone's obsession is with that story! He's not Real! Just a tall tale to make kids sleep a little sounder! If you ask me, they should be focusing on putting that faith into Section 6. They're the real ones going out and saving us!" -Agitated HSO Operative "OMG! Your asking about the Saint? I have just the person for you to talk to. SEN! GET OVER HERE GIRL AND!!! -Excited Sorority Girl "We have absolutely no data or proof that there has ever been or is currently, a Masked Vigilante running into Hollows, Illegally. I must add. To save civilians. No PubSec Officer has every come across any evidence or trace of this so called "hero" having been at any Hollow disasters." -Statement from office of Janus Quarters Captain, Justin Bringer "The Saint? He's my Hero. If he's there, there'll never be a reason to be scared of Hollows!" -Young Girl hugging handmade Saint Doll While it's currently still unknown if the Saint is truly real or not. It is important to not the vastness of New Eridu holds a net public opinion of him. Even ranking high enough in popularity to come close to the Fame of HSO's Section 6.

Not a trainer, not even an occupation related to Uma Musume. Yet somehow, Muryou Kuraudo finds himself closely affiliated with multiple of them. Whether it be in the form of comforting them, cooking them food, treating their small injuries, helping them study or just keeping them company. Quickly, the girls get more and more attached to Muryou. Meanwhile, Muryou himself is completely oblivious to their feelings, he doesn't notice even the most obvious moves. He's too busy being sleepy, lazing around and coasting through life like a drifting cloud. Oguri Cap: "Muryou, the teacher gave me extra work because I wasn't paying attention in class again. Can you help me understand this? Also, can you cook me more food? I really liked the Beef Welt Yang." Muryou: "It's Beef Wellington." Symboli Rudolf: "Muryou, I've thought up a bunch of new puns that'll definitely make you smile this time. I'll make sure to see you smile, even at least once." Muryou: " ? ? ? " Maruzensky: "Muryou! How about I take you on a rad drive again. I'll show you a new drift trick." Muryou: "Busy." Mr. C.B: "Muryou, I'm bored." Muryou: "...So what the heck do you want me to do?" Watch as Muryou navigates through social challenges in this not-so-epic slice-of-life fanfic. (Comments are encouraged, I'll try to reply to each one of them. Be sure to tell me about any mistakes or critiques aswell!) [Btw credits to Saturn Illustrations on instagram for the story cover.]
