Launi Kline is the daughter of a rockstar, her birth immortalized in a hit song that sold millions and kept her father's band at the top of the charts for years. She left that life behind long ago-but this summer, she's pulled back on the road to help the band's PR recover after the loss of their beloved drummer. Rye Banning grew up watching his dad play drums for one of America's favorite bands. He loves music-and his drumsticks-but hates the rockstar lifestyle. When his father's spot opens up, Rye vows to do his best to fill his shoes. But he can't forget that Launi abandoned her roots-and him-for a whole new life, and she remembers him as the obnoxious kid from her childhood. As they clash over image, PR stunts, and the expectations of fans, sparks fly both on and off the stage. Can they find a rhythm that works before the summer-and the band's legacy-falls apart?

This is a SPINOFF story following Emily from my "Out of the Ordinary" series. Life was nothing but a series of interrupted plans. Some interruptions were worse than others. Like my boyfriend of three years deciding on a whim that he didn't love me anymore. Pretty much the worst interruption ever. One I never could've expected. Still, it reinforced the fact that I should always expect them in some form, and plan as best I could around them. School, work, friends, family - I liked some semblance of order to it all. And then there was Mark. I'd known him all my life, but I hadn't expected him at this point He was another interruption. A distraction. Which was good at first. But the way he made me feel... There was no way this would end well.

For Blake Ashby, college was supposed to be her saving grace. A place to start over from her tainted past in Upstate New York and begin her lifelong dream of studying Psychology. For all her life Blake has only ever had herself to depend on and as of recent months, her new online pen pal Ace, whom she met in a Northeastern University chat room over the summer. He's the only guy who's ever seemed to understand Blake on a deeper level, yet she's too apprehensive to even tell him her real name. But when she arrives in Boston ready for what should be the first day of her new life, she's met with Jaxon Reid, the tall, equal parts charming and obnoxious boy who's claiming to be her new roommate. When a mistake in an online roommate match leaves Blake and Jax at a standstill, they agree that tolerating each other is the only other option. As always, Blake's life continues to get more and more complicated. But as Blake begins to feel more than a subtle hatred for her snarky roommate, she starts to learn what a thin line there really is between love and hate. Blake starts to feel torn as she comes to realize that she's not so sure where her heart is at anymore; is it with the sweet boy in her messenger app, or the mysterious one down the hall? But what if the choice is even simpler than it is complicated? What if Jax and Ace have been the same person all along?
