As class starts, I readily pay my attention to the board. The teacher, his name is "Gaku Yashiro." He explains to us that we'll be doing a "get to know your seat partner better" thing for today, since it is the first day. This does shoot a jolt of anxiety up through my body. I'm not ready, not now. Why can't we just talk to each other on our own accord? Nearly every first day is like this, so why am I surprised? Almost immediately, the blond boy next to me turns his head to look in my direction. Thus the activity begins.

Scars. Many had formed on the child's body as she listened to her family get ripped to shreds. The mountain whispered in the cold night, it told her to run and not to stop. It was the voice of her mother, even her older brother, and it echoed in her mind despite the growing pain of falling and getting thrown down multiple times. Demons. It was unbelievable. Well until she saw it with her own eyes. How? Why? Attacked. Her family was attacked by a demon. They told her to run. So she did. She ran and ran and ran. She was injured, but ran. So many questions filled her head, but she ran like her family told her too. Suddenly, a man saved her from another attack. It was fast and wielded fire with his blade. Who was he? A Demon Slayer. Why had he come? To save people from the beast, but she was the only one to save if he could save her from such injuries. She was younger than his son, but thought they'd get along well... so he killed the demon and quickly took the girl to one of his fellow peers, someone who could actually help. When she woke up... she saw a boy, a few years older than her. He seemed bright and caring, something new for the girl. What happens after that? What troubles will the girl face after that incident? Leslie is a 14 year old orphan in New York. She’s stuck in an awful orphanage until she’s 18 years old. The only thing that makes life bareable is her big brother, Jack, who comes to talk o her through the orphanage windows. That is until Jack gets arrested. But when he breaks out, he comes for Leslie and they run away, hiding from the police together. Now, it’s months later and Jack and the newsies are going on strike because of raised paper prices. That’s when Leslie meets Spot Conlon, the fast talking, wise craking, cocky king of the Brooklyn newsies. He’s too cocky for comfort with Leslie and he just thinks she’s pretty. But as time goes on, will they develop feelings for each other? But by the time they do, will it be too late? Will Leslie’s past catch up with her? And will the roughness of the streets threaten to tear her and Spot apart?
