Once Audrey told Mal that her and Ben had sex Mal was heart broken and she went to Carlos after a few days of hanging out together Carlos started growing feelings for Mal and tells Jay and Jay tells Evie and Mal hears Jay tell Evie and Mal starts to ignore Carlos and it makes him really upset and he goes back to the isle once Mal finds out she goes back to save him and she confesses her feelings towards him and they go back to Auradon but not as friends and this makes Ben very angry
