Let's rewind... It's 1976 and Regulus is returning for his fifth year at Hogwarts. With one of the worst summers of his life behind him, he's slightly glad to be back at the castle. Regulus is looking forward to a relaxing year spent focusing on his studies and lounging in the library. Only, Regulus' plans are derailed after runs into (quite literally) the one and only James Potter. It seems passing the year is the least of Regulus' problems- with the dark lord's influence growing into his inner circle, new blossoming feelings for his brother's best friend who he should hate, and a prank that goes too far. Regulus is in for a bumpy ride.

With the Tri-wizard tournament long gone, Regulus is faced with the next most difficult task- graduating. With Ivan and Claudette by his side, what could possibly go wrong? Lots. Lots could go wrong. Regulus finds himself in a tight spot with James- now newly graduated and itching to fight- but it seems his own worries surpass all else. With a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, the ministries restriction on learning defensive magic, and news of a locket- Regulus is less than prepared for the year to come. 2/3

Only they soon find that the locket isn't the only horcrux and Voldemort isn't their only problem. Between horcrux hunting and meddling time travelers, Regulus seems to have a lot more important things on his plate than passing his NEWTs.
