It was common knowledge that the quirked were superior to the quirkless in every possible way. It was common knowledge that the quirkless were a useless minority, unneeded in today's advanced, superpowered society. Just because it's 'common' knowledge doesn't mean it's correct. Izuku Midoriya was a part of that 'useless' minority. And he was not inferior in any way.

It was dark out. It was dangerous, and there was a terrified victim who needed saving every time he turned around. There was no money, and there was fame, no cameras. Just the whispers, the rumors, the conspiracies. Which meant, of course, that there were no heroes. Izuku was alone. Really, he'd been alone for years, ever since he learned he had no quirk. Now, though, he couldn't bring himself to follow after Bakugo's back, bravely proclaiming his goal to the world and facing the scorn with determination. Because he knew now, for an inescapable fact, that he didn't want to be a hero. Heroism, after all, is what got his mother killed. The event awakened something in him, something that might have been a quirk. His obsession with quirk analysis and heroes, after all, was not normal. But, heroism as a profession had its limits. All he had ever wanted was to save people, help them however he can. And sometimes, he'd found, the law just got in the way. He didn't hate the laws, or the police force that enforced it, but he now understood very personally there was no "one size fits all" set of rules when it came to suffering. In name, he supposed, he'd become a villain. He found he didn't care. Because in practice, he saved lives, he stopped the suffering of those who needed him, and he was there when no one else could be. And that's what makes a hero, no matter what anyone else tells him.

"In the ninja world, you dont need emotions" Thats what they say, but the truth is, you just dont want them. It hurts too much. The world is a dangerous place. So is a person's heart... What if Bakugou was misunderstanding something this entire time. What if Izuku wasn't interested in the whole heroes and villains thing that society projected and wrapped itself around. What if Izuku found a book in a library as a child that introduced him to a whole new world. A beautiful, intricate, enticing world about life. Because even though not all men are born equal, they will always have the opportunity to improve and live their lives fully.

When a contest sponsored by I-Island scientists comes up, Izuku Midoriya does not hesitate to enter at the chance of meeting the number 1 hero. But while designing a hero costume, Izuku begins to realize he does not just have a love for heroes, but a love for science and design.

TRIGGER WARNINGS - suicide attempts and consideration, self harm and depression. Izuku is being abused by his father. His mother left him and ended up dying. Izuku at the age of nine tries to commit suicide, but is saved by Aizawa. Aizawa decides that he will help this kid become a hero, quirk or not. Midoriya Izuku liked heroes. Yes, that was correct. But Midoriya Izuku liked Quirks more than heroes. They were such fascinating things, even more so for a Quirkless child like him. He also loved inventing things. His creative mind loved planning new gadgets to make. And so instead of becoming a hero, he became a HeroTuber going by the name Broccoli Boy. All Izuku wanted to do was help. He had a major disadvantage compared to everyone else. He had known that since he was 4, since he discovered that not all men are made equal, but he'd be damned if he didn't work 10 times harder than everyone else, just to not fall behind. Then, after 10 years of work, he's rewarded. He acts before he thinks and saves a life, but his bully didn't see it that way.
