Kendall Fox was practically born on the ice. From her earliest days, she had a stick in hand and skates on her feet. Naturally gifted, she rose quickly through the ranks and joined the elite Peewee team, The Hawks, alongside her best friend Adam Banks. The two were inseparable on and off the ice-Bonded by their skill, quiet ambition, and the pressure of living up to high expectations.
But while Adam had his father pushing him to be perfect, Kendall had a different kind of loneliness. She lived with her single mother, a high-powered, workaholic lawyer who provided everything except her presence. No recitals. No practices. No weekend games. Just empty promises and cold leftovers. As much as it hurt, Kendall still loved her mom. She just wished she'd look up from her case files long enough to really see her.
When Coach Bombay took over the Ducks and the team boundaries changed, Kendall was forced off the Hawks-and at first, she hated it. She felt humiliated, like she'd been demoted. But over time, the Ducks' wild spirit and sense of family began to rub off on her. For the first time, Kendall didn't have to be perfect-she just had to play her game. And she loved it.
