However, her old one is tugging its way back to the surface and she fears that buried feelings may resurface after the man she's almost lost countless times falls ill. Will she lose him this time? Will she have confront these feelings she has? Only time can tell.

A new girl comes into his world, it happens to be a coincidence she moves in across the street from his happy little home area. Well happy is a big word, considering things have been completely since his wife left behind both Aaron Hotchner and his son Jack when she was brutally murdered on a cold case, in which the killer, The reaper got away. Jack was only a baby when this happened, making things even more hard for Aaron. Aaron shows no emotion toward this stranger however, not wanting anything to do with her, but that becomes an issue when she ends up working at the BAU, meeting all of his friends and becoming friends with them. Another issue, he's falling for her. And she is for him.

"I - I just can't...." "... for the sake of us." Emily Prentiss begins her first day at work. Everyone's been friendly except for Aaron Hotchner. He tries to make up for his misdoings but ends up going the way he didn't hope for. This journey affects the team and both their personal lives. In a way, they didn't think it could.

"I know our history Agent Hotchner, and it's been more than a decade we last saw each other. Judging from the photo on your desk, you have moved on, though you both are unhappy in your marriage, especially your wife." "The smile on her face, it was forced, just for this photo. Her eyes were dark. She was staring into blank space. But there's a twitch in the corner of her eyes, she was either angry or trying to take control of her emotion." Prentiss said while holding the photo. "Stop," Hotchner said. "May I say a last word, Sir?" "Yes, you may." "The only person that looks happy in this photo is your son. Please do anything you can to shield him from the darkness of this world." ok ok, I know Hotchniss never happens, but I love writing about it, Im also really sad that Criminal Minds ended so yeah. This story has no smut or anything, but I think its really sweet.
