Fallon never meant to survive the night. Broken by grief and haunted by shadows that she can no longer outrun, she throws herself from the cliffs into the storm-torn sea-choosing darkness over another dawn. Instead of death, she finds fire. A dragon rises from the waves and pulls her from the abyss. Ancient. Wounded. Hunted. When the beast vanishes, and a stranger with molten-gold eyes takes his place, Fallon learns the truth: dragons are not the mindless monsters the kingdom fears. They are shifters-rare, powerful, and nearly extinct. And Ambrose is the last of the Draco. The realm has already sent its most revered knight to finish what generations began: the eradication of dragonkind. If Ambrose is found, the Draco will fall forever. Fallon owes her life to the creature the world calls a monster. As soldiers close in and secrets of the old magic awaken in her blood, Fallon must choose between the safety of the kingdom that failed her-or the dragon who saved her. Protecting Ambrose means defying the crown, confronting the knight sworn to destroy him, and risking her heart to a being of fire and shadow. Because the greatest danger isn't the blade hunting dragons. It's falling for one. [Entry for the Open Novella Contest 2026]

Pointy ears-check, third-eye induced headaches-check, fighting against a Dark Phoenix Griffin who wants to turn you into the Ultimate Weapon to kill the king... not happening. At eighteen, Sophie Emerson discovers her identity as a Spirit fae at the prestigious Earwyn Academy of Concordia. It is an identity she welcomes. She can do without the skull-splitting headaches induced by learning to control her clairvoyant powers, though. She'll also love it if someone can tell her why she sees herself in a dream surrounded by nine children who are channeling their powers into her to become a monster that will destroy Concordia. When three kids disappeared from the village, Sophie learns that the Dark Griffin abducted six other children two years ago. The dream shows her she is the last piece to become the Dark Griffin's Ultimate Weapon, and he will abduct her next. Sophie needs a plan when she wakes up in a cell with the nine other children. One that will stop herself from becoming this weapon, save the abducted children, and stop an undefeated Griffin. Being magical shouldn't be this stressful! She would have preferred to remain human, thank you very much. (a shout-out to @Novel---worm for the lovely edit on my blurb)

Don't show fear. Don't attract attention. Don't forget who the monsters are. Those are seventeen-year-old Janneke's three rules to surviving in the Permafrost. Her family is dead, her village burned to the ground, and now she's a slave in a court of merciless goblins. Though her master, Soren, offers her a small sphere of protection, it comes at the cost of abandoning humanity and their ways for good. When the Goblin King is defeated in a fight, it ignites an ancient competition to become the next King. The goal is simple: kill the sacred White Stag before the other goblins kill you. Soren sees it as the perfect opportunity to shape Janneke's acceptance of the goblins' way and give in to the hatred and violence festering inside of her. Janneke's only hope for survival is to outrun, outfight, and out-kill every creature in her path, all the while dealing with Soren, whose fierce desire for her to be a goblin is shadowed by his fascination for her human heart. Hunting the Stag is Janneke's best chance at revenge over those who enslaved her, but to succeed, she'll have to watch her humanity bleed out like the creatures she's sworn to kill. **CREDIT FOR THE WONDERFUL COVER GOES TO @seventhstar *** ***COMPLETED. It's 2141. Clones have taken over as the dominant species. Using brain nanochips to surveil thoughts and actions, they have pushed traditional humans down to a status of low-class workers in a discriminatory dystopia. A nineteen-year-old aspiring mechanic and traditional human, Daphne, unwillingly leads a double life when Sigi, a rebel from the nightclub Amanita, hacks her nanochip and frees her from clone control. Since then, she becomes involved in a plot to dethrone the clones as the ruling elite. Daphne is caught between two pro-violence titans with twisted concepts of justice: Apollo, the Living God of clones, on one side and Agape, the rebels' leader, on the other. Daphne's ideals and pacifism are put to the test as she encounters good and evil on both sides. She abhors the rebels' blood-thirsty road to freedom, which only emulates the clones' violence during the Prevalence War. All in the name of justice. True peace, not rebels taking over and getting revenge, could end it all. But how? History and old mistakes will get repeated. Despite it all, some questions plague Daphne's mind: if true peace is possible, are criminals and tyrants worth listening to? Do they deserve peace? To be forgiven while uprooting the seeds of hatred so that history doesn't repeat itself? Daphne won't conform to the insurrectionary, perverse ideals of Agape and her allegedly justified acts of terrorism. But can she rise from a scared girl to an empowered game-changer? 🧬 🧬 ⚖ 🧬 🧬 A Sci-Fi story with a sprinkle of Romance and Mystery.
