Clove never knew her parents. All she knows is her trainer Favian who sometimes doubles as her dad, and sometimes falls far short of looking out for her. In district 2 they train you not to be heartless, but to ignore your heart. After years of solitude with Favian her only family Clove has mastered this skill almost as well as she's mastered knife throwing. When new training partners for the year are assigned the day after the 73rd reaping, a mistake is made. Clove ends up partnered in the wrong age category with next years best contender for the crown: Cato Hadley. Everyone is jealous but Clove has bigger problems to deal with than her annoying partner. She has a secret that she's kept hidden for years and only Cato can save her from herself.

After being adopted, Clove moves into a new house and meets her neighbour, Cato. They instantly become friends and start building a relationship that nearly turns into something more than friends. Cato betrays Clove and she is devastated, will she ever forgive him in time to be his district partner in the 74th Hunger Games? ****************** “You drive me crazy.” I say before I lean in to kiss her. I swear the story is better than the description. Clove is a sixteen year old girl that makes the long move from England to Los Angeles CA, where she is accepted to the school for the talented: Panem Boarding School. There, she is met with a shocking culture change, and a brand new group of friends. Will she soften her normal tough, and sarcastic exterior? Or will she keep building her walls high and wide to avoid getting hurt once more?
