The eagles in LOTR don't have much of a purpose besides appearing and saving the day, so this book brings a new race to Middle Earth that has more involvement with them. And one of these characters might possibly come to meet a certain elf, who knows?

She watched as The Ring was forged and she swore an Oath to destroy it. Now, after years of being lost in time, The Ring has been found and the Fellowship to cast it to fires of it's origin has been tasked. Her one and true purpose on Middle-Earth has shown itself. She can finally finish what it was she set out to do, but nothing is as easy as that. Arathiel knows this more than most. She has never loved in her life. No love more than that she felt for her brother or own kind. That familial love that didn't fade. She feared to fall so deeply for someone. She had seen heartbreak and she had seen loss, and yet, perhaps love isn't what she fears, but rather who it is her heart softens for. Who, in her thousands of years, breaks that wall of ice. Our story follows a Hobbit by the name of Marlena Rowen-Baggins. A resident of the Shire, at the age of six she was taken in by Bilbo Baggins after he had found her wandering alone far away from her home. At age eight, she was officially adopted by him. Ever since, she has become close to some of the Baggins family, particularly her adoptive father, Bilbo, and adoptive brother, Frodo Baggins, who is also Bilbo's nephew. Marlena's story begins on the day of Bilbo's 111th birthday, a day that will change her life, and Frodo's, forever. In that ring, he poured all his grieve and helplessness-a hope for The Accursed, born out of anguish. With the last of his magic, he banished the ring in hope to protect it from Sauron before he died, only to be found by an unlikely host-a human woman, cursed in life, yet blessed upon resurrection.
