Her departure affected him greatly. It had been more than a decade, but Heatwave still couldn't bring himself to move on. She was keeping him in the dark, and it was slowly killing her. After being exposed to an unstable chemical in a lab accident, the bots awake the next day to find their frames underwent an unprecedented change while they slept. She knew nothing about this newspark, or how it came to be born, or what in the name of Primus happened to its carrier--but that was all waiting to be unveiled, just like slowly peeling the petals off of a gorgeous crimson flower. - Things take a turn for the worst when the newest rescue bot finds an abandoned newspark, who she lovingly names Rose, in the woods on the Mainland. Quickshadow decides to take it upon herself to care for Rose while she and the rescue team begin the search for the sparkling's creators. Some of the bots aren't so fond of her plan at first. The tension between Heatwave and Quickshadow thickens when a few pent-up feelings are brought to light, and they quickly begin to realize that they need to set aside their differences (and maybe their emotions) in order to keep the team together as major problems begin to surface. Adopting a helpless, abandoned sparkling doesn't seem so complicated at first, but this one happens to have a dangerous secret, one none of them know. And when that secret casts over the team in a dark shadow with questionable motives and a mysterious links to her past, Quickshadow has to make one of the most difficult choices in her functioning: give up her one chance to save someone she thought she'd lost, or risk everything to protect her new-found family. Heatwave is the leader of the sigma 17 rescue team on the small island of Griffin Rock. He deals with rescues everyday, unruly criminals, and even his own surly partner. Ever since Quickshadow, a smart, beautiful femmebot spy comes to Griffin Rock to join the Rescue Bots, Heatwave can't take his mind off her. While he's helping Quickshadow with some matters back on the mainland, can he really tell the spark of his life how he feels?
