His there-again, gone-again friend August isn't much help, either. Zeke wonders why police don't follow the vamp-attack angle, considering Carter's wounds. The politically-correct vamp culture has rendered him unsympathetic. As the evidence mounts against him, Zeke struggles to use his journalistic skills in an effort to save himself. He discovers everyone else's secrets, including those of his parents and cousin Raffi, somehow intertwine with the investigation.
