It was a perfectly normal day for Hiccup and Astrid, they were happily racing when Hiccup spotted something on the beach. They decided to go and investigate it. Little did they know that it would change their lives forever.

Hayden 'Hiccup' Haddock is the school nobody. Alone and abused both at school and at home, he's relied on solely his wit and snappy comebacks. Having no one to turn to, he barely makes it through each passing day. Scrawny, scarred, and starving, he forces himself through every day. He calls himself Mr. Misunderstood, though everyone else calls him fishbone, or rat meat. Amber 'Astrid' Hofferson is Ms. Popular, getting along with everyone except for people like Hiccup. She refuses to acknowledge he exists, just like everyone else. When a new kid comes to school and befriends Hiccup as well as everyone else, worlds change and lives collide people never thought possible.

Hiccup is the son of the chief. Well, he's supposed to be, anyway. But try telling that to the acting-chief, Magnus, who has some serious abusive tendancies, is despised and feared by all, and treats Hiccup more like a prisoner than future leader. His father is gone, unintentionally stranded, and doesn't show any signs of returning any time soon. Worse (or perhaps better), there are rumors floating around Berk of a rebellion soon to come. The plan: Usurp Magnus and put Hiccup in his place as the rightful chief. Simple, right? But there's just one problem. Hiccup has been exiled to a remote island, Magnus' way of putting down the rebellion. Now, Hiccup has no home and no way to travel. Without him, Berk's chances of escaping Magnus' cruel tyranny seem much diminished. And if that wasn't bad enough, Hiccup finds that he is not alone on the island. Someone else lives here, too. Someone whose kind has been warring with Hiccup's for centuries. His worst enemy. A dragon.

Taken from his home as a wee babe, Hiccup grew up with dragons and was raised by one of the most feared in the archipelago. He is known across the land as the Night Rider and is wanted for the betrayal of his own kind. All Hiccup wants the battle to end on both sides, showing the world that man and beast live together peacefully. Will anyone listen or will the battle of man and dragons continue? Prior to the rewrite, the story will first take place when Valka and Hiccup were captured, and Stoick picking himself up. For now it's their adventures we'll look into before Hiccup takes the wheel.

While Hiccup is unconscious after the Red Death battle Toothless tries to wake him up. He shoots a plasma blast into his face and Hiccup breathes in the fire. A small mark forms on Hiccup's hand, a Night Fury spiraled up. Soon after he wakes up Hiccup develops some...symptoms...
