Runa'ìn Tsahìk Ayl'kén crouched at the edge of the cliff, wind tearing at her hair, the forest yawning below like a green ocean ready to swallow her whole. Kä'ru's wings beat impatiently beside her, claws scraping the rock. She didn't pause. She didn't think. She leapt.
The world flipped. Roots and vines clawed at her as she tumbled, the sharp tang of dirt and sap in her mouth. Pain bit at her ribs, her ankle twisted cruelly-but she laughed. Not from joy, not entirely. From something else she couldn't name, something that made her heart hammer and her chest burn, something that whispered you're alive, you're alive, you're alive.
She scrambled upright, adrenaline-or whatever it was-coiling through her, sharpening every sense. The forest felt alive in a way it never had before: aware, watchful, echoing with hidden movement. And somewhere, just beyond her sight, danger waited. Always. And she would chase it, again and again, because Runa'ìn could not stop herself, and Pandora would not forgive hesitation.
