Naruto é um garoto com cabelos loiros dourados de olhos azuis com 8 anos que é odiado por quase todos os aldeões de sua vila por ter a Kyuubi selada dentro de si. Naruto não possui quase nenhum amigo, apenas alguns que eram Shikamaru Nara, Chogi Akimichi e Kiba Inuzuka, apesar de ter uma certa rivalidade com Kiba. Yugito é uma menina com cabelos loiros mais claros com olhos negros da mesma idade que Naruto que era odiada pelos moradores de Kumogakure e tratada como arma por boa parte dos shinobis. Os únicos na vila que não a tratavam assim eram o Jinchuuriki do Hachibi, conhecido como Killer Bee, que era irmão de consideração do Raikage, e também seus amigos Karui, Omoi e Samui.
