Spock is a half Vulcan-half human entering his third year at the star fleet academy. Ever since he was a child Spock was bullied for being different, and it would be completely illogical to think this year would be any different. James Tiberius Kirk is a human troublemaker who is transferring to star fleet academy after causing one too many fights in his last academy. He is very bright and is convinced that this year will be his final, despite it being a four year course. With this year their most challenging by far, Spock and Jim will learn to depend on each other more then either if them thought they could ever depend on another. They knew from the first time their eyes met there was a bond, but will it be enough? Dual tragedies bring the Enterprise's command team closer together, but the gap between them grows when Spock discovers something in Jim's mind. This story reboots two TOS episodes: City on the Edge of Forever and Operation: Annihilate!. If you haven't seen them, you might want to before you read this. This story presumes you have a working knowledge of both. This is my absolute favorite of my Trek stuff, packed with all of my favorite tropes! Be advised it contains primarily Kirk/Spock, but there are references to Spock/Uhura, Kirk/Edith, and Kirk/OMC.

Spock had never tried it himself, but knew it was possible through stories and experiences from the Vulcan Elders, and as he moved to Kirk's side he pushed back all uncertainty-this was the only option they had to save the captain's life. "My strength to yours. My will to yours," he muttered ever so quietly, reminding himself of what he was doing. He focused on not intruding into Kirk's mind, instead only allowing the bond to offer him strength and project reassurance; he could hear Kirk's breathing even out. "Spock?" "I'm here, captain."
