I soothe, pulling him closer still. Sobs escape from his chest, rattling his shoulders in an unsteady rhythm. In that moment, my heart breaks for him and all the terrible things this life has done. It breaks for the guilt and the ghosts swimming in his mind, the person he was never allowed to become. "Don't make me do this," Steve pleaded, his voice sounding tired. But Bucky was gone once again, taken control of by the Winter Soldier.
