Naruto and Sasuke had a battle at the Valley of the End with Naruto as the victor. As he arrived at the gates of Konohagakure with an unconscious Sasuke, Naruto was ambushed by ROOT Anbu, dropping Sasuke and being taken to Shimura Danzo. Because of the Akatsuki, Danzo insisted that Naruto should be confined in Konoha, putting him in prison. Naruto escapes and left the village in search of the other Jinchūriki.
