Snufkin finds himself on his yearly trip south, but realizes that he wanted to spend time with moomin. nobody else was awake, why couldnt he hang around moomin with just the two if them for once?

He thought he could shake it. He thought he'd be fine. But he was cold to the bone and the freeze just wouldn't leave where it had settled on the inside of his chest. - "Moominmamma," Moomin mumbled. Snufkin has been feeling low lately. He goes through depressive episodes and isolates himself. He can't eat, he's exhausted all the time, he doesn't feel like himself. When he finally returns to Moominvalley things are very different than last spring. Y'all know I had to do an Invisible Snufkin AU story! Now, disclaimer, there is in-depth description of Snufkin feeling really depressed, and it entails some eating problems, so if you're struggling with any similar mental health difficulties, please tread carefully. Just when Snufkin and Moomin were finally ready to settle down, someone turns up and things start to go horribly horribly wrong.

When Snufkin becomes more and more distant as time passes by, Moomin becomes increasingly concerned. Snufkin leaves for his regular trips during winter, nothing new- but he doesn't come back. For so long, Moomin worries sick and he becomes overwhelmed with sadness. But one morning, he hears a spring tune.
