When Luz returns to the Boiling Isles, her feelings towards her best friend, top student Amity Blight, haven't changed. But both are too afraid to confess. In an attempt to get closer to her best friend, Luz takes her to explore the wonders of the human realm. But things aren't as they seem, and there is someone, something, with a devious plan to take everything away from her. Halloween is easily Luz's favourite holiday - Scary costumes, free candy, and a day where being weird is a good thing? What's not to love!
