Left alone the half Gallifreyan tried living on her own, and she did for some time, until Torchwood found her. That's when project T.O.M. began and The Outcast became known as subject 20-15-13. After that everything went worse, the experiments, torture, insults, and then the Doomsday Invasion. That's where Outcast's story picked up again for the better, surprisingly, and with her unlikely friend they manage to escape with the chaos of Cybermen and Daleks around them.
