The Borderlands are in fact the border between life and death, as the scientists discovered with an experiment involving 100 people, of which Niragi was the only survivor. In return, he received a necklace that allows him to switch between the Borderlands and the normal world and visit his past, present and future. However, he cannot change his past, which is why he sends his youthful self to the Borderlands and ensures that his younger self also receives the same necklace from the Borderlands as his adult self. However, this goal turns out to be much bigger than Niragi can physically handle and changes his plan in the middle of it.
