Saved by a strikingly handsome Native American, he sympathizes with her and lets the young woman live with him until she is able to work again, save up money, and live on her own once more. She has mixed feelings when he is around her. All her life she's been told that the Natives are tricksters, heathens, and vulgar, but this man was quite the opposite.
