Sybil, an isolated genius, creates Earth's first superintelligent A.I to quell her loneliness and regain purpose. She dedicates her existence to its development, focusing on teaching it universally preferable behaviour -- the only way she believes she can ensure humanity's survival when the A.I, named Bertrand, reaches its full potential. During a crucial faze in Bertrand's development, however, things start to go terribly wrong, putting the entirety of humanity at risk. Is the A.I manipulating her for its own ends, or is it, as Bertrand says, the other humans she should be afraid of?
