At sixteen, could you run the world? Could you look after the food, the water, the electricity, the government... the children? Evie Ballentrae isn't equipped to deal with any of that. But like everyone else her age, she doesn't have a choice. 'The Fan and The Things That Hit It,' is the Part I of The Sleep. - "At first I thought it was a joke. Some sort of well-orchestrated, viral meme thing. An overly elaborate flash mob. But after a few hours it was serious, after a day it was scary, the weeks passed and it was terrifying, and now... Now we have to make some serious decisions about how to live, and more importantly, what to live for." -

After Evie Harper spends the day pining after her unrequited childhood crush, Harley, she drowns her sorrows in a bottle of stolen wine. But the next day, and one glorious hangover later, Harley is found with a very naked-very strangled stripper in his bed. Naturally the police assume that it's some kind of erotic play gone terribly wrong, but Harley swears that he left her alive and "orgasmically" happy when he went on the ill fated booze and condom run. And Evie knows Harley isn't a violent man. When the Chos ask her to investigate the murder, and possibly clear their son's name, she reluctantly agrees. But as Evie digs deeper into the dead woman's life she discovers that the exotic dancer had quite the past; one that involved drugs, prostitution, and gangs. Who knew the life of a stripper could get so dirty? Evie Harper Mysteries: Book 2

Ok do you ever start reading a fanfic starring your favorite band mates but you can't relate to the main shorty because her parents left her with like a million dollars and she's just chilling. Basically she's white and you'll never relate to her. Well this is going to have a dark skin girl natural hair as the main girl. There are going to be issues such as anti-blackness, colorism, Etc. addressed. There isn't a synopsis of the story because I want to leave you guys clueless.

Evelyn's day couldn't get any worse, until a local news anchor drops dead in her café. If that weren't bad enough the police suspect her former drug dealing cousin as the culprit, and Evie's not someone who just sits by while her family's in trouble. Putting on her sleuth hat she's in a race to find the true killer; not an easy task considering the deceased was a total ass to just about everyone he knew. Was it his neglected wife, sick of the constant verbal abuse? His pretty assistant, tired of being sexually harassed on a daily basis? Or was it his brother, jealous of the success he could never find himself? Hell, maybe it's that strange new guy that's only a quarter-step from being a bum. If Evie thought today was a hot mess, she's in for ride of her life. Evie Harper Mysteries: Book 1
