In this alternate ending of the Clato fanfiction "Needing the Impossible", Cato and Clove make it to the end of the Hunger Games and come out the victors. I could give you a lame synopsis, but I'd rather you just read it for yourself and tell me what you think :)

She's fought against her family's poverty and has to keep fighting to keep what she has. He comes from a wealthy family and can have anything he wants with a simple request. But both have become prideful. Cato and Clove both believe they are self-sufficiant, cold people. So when arrogant meets arrogant, and they're forced to cooperate if they ever hope to enter the Games, can they keep from killing each other long enough to start working together? Clove trained her entire life for the Games. She left District 2 to escape her father and tormentor, Favian, and bring honor to her District. Against all odds she and Cato both managed to survive. But one of them was meant to die in the arena. And President Snow is furious. Unless Clove can convince everyone she is the heartless, brutal, killer she was born to be, everyone she loves will die. This includes letting go of whatever she and Cato had--even their friendship. In the aftermath of the Games, District 2 becomes a minefield of secrets and lies. Ghosts from Clove's past appear in the day as ghosts from the arena haunt her nights. In this sequel to "Clato: Cuts Beneath the surface" Clove struggles with hiding her breaking heart and surviving the Victory tour. She begins to wonder if it would have been better to have died in the arena.

Clove never knew her parents. All she knows is her trainer Favian who sometimes doubles as her dad, and sometimes falls far short of looking out for her. In district 2 they train you not to be heartless, but to ignore your heart. After years of solitude with Favian her only family Clove has mastered this skill almost as well as she's mastered knife throwing. When new training partners for the year are assigned the day after the 73rd reaping, a mistake is made. Clove ends up partnered in the wrong age category with next years best contender for the crown: Cato Hadley. Everyone is jealous but Clove has bigger problems to deal with than her annoying partner. She has a secret that she's kept hidden for years and only Cato can save her from herself.

She has always dreamed of winning the Hunger Games, but she knew she needed to win when her father left them with little to no money. Cato has trained for the Hunger Games since he was 8. Nearly everyone in his family has volunteered for the Hunger Games and most have come home as victors. His family always pressures him to win the Hunger Games and come home as a victor. Everyone knows Katniss and Peeta's story, but no one knows of the star crossed lovers from District 2. This is a clato fanfic from Clove's point of view. This tells the story of life before the games for the infamous tributes, and what went on during the games. Will the games drive them apart because as we all know one tribute comes out alive.
