Things only get worse in his junior year when he excels in home economics class, leading the captain of the baseball team, Alastair, to start taunting him for being gay. Then new student Dean Winchester arrives at Flour Bluff High School, sharing many of Castiel's classes. Castiel has seen his type before -- handsome, athletic, arrogant, and sure to be the most popular kid in school. But Castiel eventually learns that he and Dean have more in common than he thought, and they form an unlikely friendship. Dean Winchester and Castiel Novak are familiar-strangers who always end up on the same bus every morning and evening of the week. Luck isn't on Cas' side one week when he loses his cat and proceeds to get fired, then there's Dean who went a whole day without coffee. "So, I know Mr. Shurley said this was for English," Dean spoke, making Castiel's stomach flutter. How could a voice do that? He thought. "But I was going to ask you to- uh-" he rummaged in his backpack and took out a crumbled piece of paper. "Do you take Latin? And I also need help with Math." After Dean gives a blind man shelter during a storm, a friendship begins forming between the two. Dean begins to notice that something is off about Castiel, and he can't figure out what it is, but that doesn't stop the growing attraction Dean has for him.

Cas, Dean, and Sam find themselves undercover in a gay bar for a case after several gay men, who attended this bar quite often, disappeared. Some things happen 'solely for the case' that lead to a deeper connection, or one could say "a more profound bond", between the hunter and the angel.

Dean and Cas never admitted their feelings for each other although it's pretty obvious that there's something going on between them. After a while Sam's had enough from watching them undressing each other with their eyes. He soon calls Charlie for help and together they make a plan on how Dean and Cas finally tell each other what they're feeling. But what seems like a great idea turns out to be a big mistake..

After a hunt gone wrong leaves Sam transfigured and Castiel drained of his grace, Dean is not only left to tend to them both, but for some reason also finds himself having involuntarily and graphically inappropriate thoughts about the angel in question. Now, if only Cas could stop getting so close to him all the time, maybe he could figure out what the hell was going on? NOT MINE it's by Chiyume on AO3
