This romance follows Lea Delambre, from the house of Delambre as she journeys to Caladan to marry Duke Leto's son, Paul. Both Lea and Paul are 18 years of age and are to be married. A treaty between the two houses binds them together, creating a connection in which the two are set to create a union and rule. However, Paul is rebellious, wanting to make his own way, not one bit interested in the marriage and tries to break away from it in every way he can.
