Hiccup Haddock the Third was an outcast from his own village, even to his father. When he met Toothless, he felt something he has lost long ago. The belonging of a family. He never thought he could leave Berk. However, when he was chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare, his own fears were overcome by something else. The feelings to protect his own. He never thought of coming back. But fate had other plans.

During the Berk coming of age entrance test (long name I know) five young Vikings face the outdoors alone for a year. Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut. They expect a boring year filled with fights, little food, and dragon attacks. But don't expect a mysterious dragon rider with a connection to Berk. I own none of the pictures I use unless mentioned. I think only two of them are mine.

After 12 years of neglection, name-calling and bullying. Hiccup the muted, emotionless 15 year old is training to kill a dragon but meets a Night Fury. As Hiccup aces his training, he is chosen to kill a Monstrous Nightmare.But he decided to leave. After 8 years, Hiccup knew he would inevitably return to Berk. Will he stay as a empty soul forever? Here's another one of my fan-fictions. Imagine if Hiccup had mounted Toothless in the ring after he was saved from the Monsterous Nightmare. Once Hiccup was saved by toothless, his father dashed towards them with his axe raised but to the chief's surprise, they flew away. Hiccup flew as far away from Berk as fast as he possibly could and promised to never return because Hiccup knew he never truly belonged with them, the dragons killers while he was a dragon at heart. After Hiccup ran away he was soon presumed dead. 5 years later, Alvin the treacherous kidnapped Stoick to settle a feud. Both with Stoick and someone else. Stoick knew Hiccup was out there somewhere, alive and well deep down; but he kept trying to convince himself otherwise, and it was getting to be too long with too little hope. Then a strange young man shows up on the outcast island.

Hiccup Haddock the third is...to put it bluntly, a useless. While everyone else is out helping in the raids, he's stuck in the forge because he "will cause the least problems" there. He is the runt of the pack, the Fishbone, and the heir to Berk. His father could never be more disappointed in him. The only hope for poor Hiccup, is to kill a dragon. but how? he's so small and they're so big! Well guess what? He shoots down a Night Fury! Yep, he succeeds! He shot down the most feared dragon in History! His inventions aren't all bad! But, what happens when he finally finds the beast and goes to kill it. What happens when he looks into the dragons eyes? What happens when he sees a soul that reflects his own, that looks as frightened as he is? What happens when he cuts the dragon free? what happens when he wins dragon training and has to kill the Nightmare. the answer is, he runs. he runs as far as he can. never to return. - Just to be clear, I do not own the How To Train Your Dragon franchise. When word spread about his good deeds, Hiccup is on the run when dragon hunters wants him and Toothless. A traitor is in the midst who plans to harm those who Hiccup cared about. - ORIGINAL VERSION - Hiccup Haddock was a child born on the village of Berk, then to be taken by a NightFury in a dragon raid without a trace. But while Stoick and Valka are trying to live while mourning for their lost son, Hiccup is living freely on a Santuarial island created by an Alpha dragon with his best friend, a dragon, the one who stole him, Toothless. Toothless has always told Hiccup that vikings are cruel, horrible people that kill dragons for the fun of it, and that he should stay as far away from them. But when Hiccup gets caught on a hostile, viking-dwelling island, he doesn't know what to do. The Chief's wife thinks it's unfair to torture a child like this, but when Stoick lays eyes on this boy, he has other plans. Will he and his dragon escape in time?
