It is their last year at Watford. Few months after Simon defeated the Insidious Humdrum. But Simon isn't studying at Watford.He can't, because he lost his magic. Simon never liked Hospitals, but when Penny's dad needs to have surgery, he finds himself in one. And he finds himself returning after a chance meeting with another Mage.

Simon finds Baz's diary after flipping their room upside down in a fit of rage. Except it's locked... Then Simon agrees to do a 'favour' for Baz. Simon didn't know it would mean going to Baz's home and having to pretend to be his boyfriend during winter break. The diary is his only way out. Though he can't seem to find that damn key...

Simon Snow and Baz Grimm-Pitch attend Watford Univerity together. In this universe, much of the population have soulmates. Whatever your soulmate writes on themself will appear on you as well. So, when his sister is old enough to understand, he tells her about Simon Snow and his battles with The Insidious Humdrum and how he and his fairy help-mate, Penelope, save Neverland on a daily basis. What Baz doesn't know is that there's always someone lurking outside his window when he tells these stories. Ever since Simon was born, he knew that the real world wasn't the place for him. His mother died during childbirth and his father, in turn, became an abusive drunk. So, when Simon was seventeen, he escaped to Neverland where he would never have to grow up and be like his father. Now that he's been there for so long (he lost track of the years overtime) he starts to wander back into the real world to see how things have changed. One night he hears, through an open window, a silky voice telling stories of Simon Snow the Great Adventurer. The boy that didn't want to grow up. So Simon hovers outside the window night after night, just to hear what the boy has to say. One night, Simon finds himself going in through the window to try and find his shadow and meets the mysterious story-teller. Who, as he finds out, is not just mysterious--he is incredibly attractive.
