On the 23 hour of the second day of the twelfth month, red and blue flashing lights were the only thing waiting outside the academy. Sir Reginald Hargreaves and chimpanzee, Pogo were woken by the pounding on the door. An angry Reginald opened the door to two policemen holding the shoulders of a young girl. "What is the meaning of this?" Sir Reginald said. Behind him Pogo motioned for the, now awake, children to stay upstairs. "We've come here to ask you take in this child. Her mother was murdered last night" One police officer explained. The girl had on a school uniform with a jacket ten times too big for her. Through the shadow of the jacket, her clothes splattered with blood. "And why would I do that? This isn't an orphanage" Reginald snarled at the two men. They didn't answer but instead handed him a folder. Sir Reginald opened the folder and flipped through its pages before bending down to the girls level "Welcome to The Umbrella Academy"

Five slammed his butter knife into the table, not breaking eye contact with their father, unable to see everyone's horrified stares. Just him replying to Five was enough for everyone to feel shocked. "But I'm ready. I've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said." Five argued appearing beside their father. "See?" He gestured to himself as proof. Reginald didn't even look up from his plate, unamazed with Five's gift. "A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn." Reginald said waving a hand. Everyone went back to their meals and Five looked angrily at them before locking eyes with Y/n, who gave him a pleading look. She hoped he would just sit down before the situation escalated. "Well, I don't get it." Five mumbled. "Hence the reason you're not ready." Reginald replied. "I'm not afraid." Five countered. "Fear isn't the issue. The effects it might have on your body, even on your mind, are far too unpredictable. Now, I forbid you to talk about this anymore." Reginald said turning to Five.
