He seems to just glide between the aisles for what feels like forever, he makes me feel uneasy, the dark hood and slumped demeanour spells trouble in my head. I look at my mother at the till next to me, "Hey mum, would you mind making sure we have enough of that bean soup stocked, you know its popular this time of year." She looks at me sceptically, before letting a slight smile sneak across her face, "Make sure you keep your eyes open eh, need to be vigilant at this time of night" She slips through a red door into the store room, shortly before the shadow man approaches the till. He places an energy drink on the counter and I pick it up calmly to ring it up, when I put the bottle down I return my gaze to him, to be left staring down the barrel of his gun. This book is going to be about the life of a teenage boy who is almost killed during an armed robbery, cheating death however has its price, the people around him will realise that very soon, he will have to choose between allowing those he loves to live, or living himself. --Updates will be every two weeks--

When seventeen year-old Runner was sentenced to death for stealing a loaf of bread in MegaCity One, his dreams were literally at an end. But then he opts to sign up for the Remnants of Men, a government sanctioned search for a rumoured fresh water lake beyond a radiated wasteland. At first, it seemed like a second chance to a new life, the transformation from zero to hero. But after an encounter with a rabid gang of men suffering an acute insanity, he soon comes to understand that he is one of many discarded into the wasteland to study the cannibalistic effects of a new drug called the Sixth Sense. Olivia Patterson has had one too many doses of the Sixth Sense and owes a massive debt to a shadowy rebel and loan shark called Death-Throe. Being the daughter of the City's dictator, she knows too well that the gallows awaits any who associates with the rebel. In an attempt to free herself, she acquires an asset in the form of Runner and finds herself always at the edge, for if he survives it means freedom for both, but if he dies...

During the filming of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", there would frequently come times when the story called for the characters (and in the early days, it was often that bane of Trekkies everywhere, Wesley Crusher, the Platonic Ideal of Dork) to fix some far-future technical problem. Which means said characters had to employ far-future tech. Which by definition hasn't been invented yet. What happened over the course of the series was that they engaged a couple of people to be in charge of continuity and technology, and the script writers would insert into the scripts, "[technobabble here]", leaving the staff TechGeek to insert the proper futuristic-sounding tech gibberish. You know: Stuff that sounds realistically scientific, but is really just verbal handwaving. "Tachyon fields"; "Inertial dampers"; and so on. Welcome to my non-fictional, non-Star Trek, highly-idiosyncratic take on tech, tech-related topics, and sometimes random stuff that's just obliquely related to tech that was triggered by me reading or hearing or seeing something that happened to drift through the wide-open transom of my brain and get stuck there. Some of the items you will see here are funny, some I hope are thought-provoking, some could probably be filed under the hashtag of #DougRant, filtered through what my life-partner calls my "weird perspective". If you enjoy reading them, then they will have served their purpose. So read on and, hopefully, enjoy!

!!This book is based on Five Nights At Freddy's , but isn't a book on gameplay, this is an actual story!! What was that? Must be my imagination. I think not. "I reached for the button and began listening to the recording, ' Uh, hello? Hello, hello? Uh, hello and welcome to your new summer job at the new and improved Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.' " "I stared down the dark, spine chilling hall, Foxy was gone, but something far more disturbing had taken his place" Please comment, feedback is very encouraging!! Don't forget to check out the game Five Nights At Freddy's there are 4 games currently!
