Shortlisted for the Wattys 2025! Living in a human town, Esmara has little knowledge of the seven kinds of shifters who rule the world outside of her safe walls. The horrific rumours and tales she hears from visiting travellers are enough to keep her satisfied with her simple and quiet life. But when her safe haven is suddenly disturbed by her own kind, she needs the help of those she is terrified of most. Amidst the chaos, Esmara is confronted with feelings she does not understand. Why is she so involved with the werewolves? Which side does she choose when the line between friend and foe begins to blur? And who is the dark-haired stranger she so desperately longs for? Esmara is determined to unravel the truth behind it all, even as the looming darkness seems to draw closer. ----- "Honestly, it's one of the best werewolf stories I've read: the plot, the writing, and the characters are all amazing. I can't wait to read the second book! And please don't stop writing, you truly have a great talent!" (Eastis) "I started when you only had a few chapters, and have been on the edge of my seat since."(Vettechk) "I can't explain how much I loved this book." (Abbeys3088) "This was one of the books that helped me get out of my reeding slump. When I started this book and realized how good it was i couldn't stop reading! And I still don't get how this book didn't make top 10 in the werewolf category yet, because it deserves it!" (Hannubear) "This book is one of the most well written here in Wattpad. I loved it sooo much. Your writing is so beautiful honestly!!" (Reliverelove)

Seth's expression was unyielding, his next words delivered with ruthless precision. "I, Seth Langston, Alpha of the Moonlight Pack, reject you, Ariah Lockwood, as my mate and as Luna of this pack. As Alpha, my word is law. I don't need your acceptance to sever this bond." I can't remember the last time I smiled-or even felt happy. My nightmare began the day I couldn't shift at ten years old, unlike everyone else in the pack. Since then, it's been an endless torment. Why am I the only one broken? Why must I suffer for something beyond my control? Why am I cast aside by those I thought were my family? But it's alright. Everything will be alright. Because I will be their downfall.

He closes in close enough that his lips grazed my ear as he spoke. "I think you do." he whispered, "I think you wonder how it feels." "Shut up," I breathed. He didn't. Instead, he crowded closer, his knee slotting between mine. "I think you wanna know how it feels" I shake my head. "To have lips kissing on your thighs," his finger grazes my knee. "To have a man lick and bite at your skin," his eyes fall to my trembling legs. "I think you want to know what it feels like to have every part of you screaming for them not to stop?" "I'm not-" I sucked in a shaky breath, my back pressing harder against the mirror. "I'm not doing this." My hands meet his bare chest. Stopping him. But he stays. *SAMPLE(CH. 10)* He beckoned me with an index finger. "Why are you in my room?" "I was -" I held up his wallet. "Helping you out... hell, pigs live better than this." "You sure about that?" His tone was thick with amusement. "You're brave enough to sneak into my room. Tryin' to rob me?" "Should I?" I snapped. "It has a good amount of weight, too." Laughing softly, he tipped my chin up with the edge of the wallet, his eyes raking over my face. "You look... better." The way he said it so unsure made me frown. "Not like shit, you mean?" "Much better than that." He patted the underside of my jaw with the warm leather. A jolt traveled through my ever-so-watery mouth straight to my core. "But what happened to avoidin' me, Millie baby." I couldn't help it; my eyes dropped again. "Why is your hand still out?" He tongued his cheek in suspicion. "Waiting' on a tip?" "Yeah, finder's fee." "Mmm. Atta girl." He chuckled, rustling in the wallet. When I didn't move, he added two more. "... Damn, that's all you got?" I challenged. "What a shame, I don't like playing with broke for too long." "Broke?" He repeated the word like it was a dare. Without breaking eye contact, he pulled a stack of bills from the fold. "Catering?" He slapped more down. Heavier. "And housekeeping, too?" He huffed, finally handing the empty wallet back with a sharp flick. "You'd charge more than I could pay." "Good thing I accept credit." I jested. "But I can see yours is maxed out for today." I tried to move past him, but he shifted, his bad leg bracing against the dresser to block my path. "I gave you all that I had, you greedy girl," He murmured. "Now, keep that hand out, and the next thing I put in it... sure as hell ain't gone be money." "Oh, you're mean today." "You're talkin' like you're nice." He cocked his head. "In fact, I can get a hell of a lot meaner, if you need that." If I need that? "Boy, you don't scare me." "Good." Something landed at my feet.

Aaliyah Johnson is in her final year at Magnolia State University, where she's balancing a scholarship, an art degree, and the pressure of not knowing what comes next. Elias Carter, the university's baseball captain, seems to have everything figured out, except his own heart. But between classes, practices, and the expectations of everyone around them, connection becomes the one thing they can't plan for. From strangers to friends to something far deeper, their story grows with every season, rooted beneath a magnolia tree that sees it all. Autumn brings sparks: "I'm curious about you, but I don't even know why yet." Winter, closeness: "You calm me when I didn't realise I needed calming." Spring, love: "I've known for a while... I just didn't want to ruin it." Summer, uncertainty: "Even if everything changes, you've changed me already."
