Book One of the Shadowbound Trilogy by Elias Gray Some destinies aren't written in light. They're carved in shadow. Bel never asked to be special. Haunted by mirror dreams and hunted by celestial forces, he's spent his life trying to disappear, to stay quiet, stay safe, and stay far away from the fire burning beneath his skin. But fate has other plans. When a tragic accident forces him to flee with his best friend Jace and the fiercely brilliant Erica, Bel is thrust into a world of ancient rites, forbidden magic, and secrets buried deep within his own bloodline. He doesn't know why the Council wants him, only that their eyes burn with fear... and that his very existence could tip the balance between worlds. As the trio races across cursed forests, crumbling villages, and shattered memories, Bel must confront a truth he was never ready to face: He was never just running from something. He was being called to something greater. Something darker. In a world where shadows hold the truth and light can lie, Bel must decide what kind of monster he's willing to become, to save the people he loves. Shadowbound is a journey of identity, survival, and self-acceptance, the first step into a trilogy where destiny wears a broken face... and hope is found in the dark.

Zolani never thought her quiet college days would unravel into legend. With her curious cat always at her heels and a life filled with laughter and promise, the world seemed ordinary enough-until the night the veil lifted. A single choice pulled her into a realm where shadows whispered with ancient secrets, and the familiar twisted into the strange and unknown. Old powers stirred in the dark, watching her every step as if they had been waiting eons for her arrival. What she once knew as mere chance now felt like an inescapable fate, and the intricate secrets bound to her name grew heavier by the hour, weighing on her heart and mind. Armed with little more than her unwavering courage and the loyal companionship of her enigmatic cat, Zolani found herself having to navigate a treacherous path where allies might just be illusions, cloaked in deception. Each step she took revealed layers of truth, and every answer unlocked a deeper mystery that beckoned her further into the abyss. One thing became abundantly clear: her story was no longer hers alone. It belonged to a world steeped in wonder and danger, one that had been waiting for her all along to uncover its hidden depths.

In the chaos of war, some battles are fought with steel -- others with the soul. Admiral Arden Lexington was raised by vengeance. After witnessing pirates slaughter her family, she devoted her life to hunting them down as part of the International Pirate Hunters Fleet -- a powerful naval militia loyal to no crown, only to the Admiral who leads them. Hardened, brilliant, and feared across the sea, Arden is a force few dare challenge. But when a man from her past-Master of Arms, James Morgan -- is pulled from the wreckage of a sunken ship and placed under her command, Arden's world begins to fracture. The boy who once slipped into her heart has returned a man -- and with him, a quiet defiance against the life she's sentenced herself to. He doesn't judge her past-he dares her to imagine a future beyond it. As enemies gather and betrayals surface, Arden must decide what kind of legacy she wants to leave behind-one carved in vengeance, or one built on hope.

🏆 SHORTLISTED FOR THE WATTYS 2025 🏆 In Bizanth, holiness is enforced with fire, and peace is treated as heresy. The Empire is rotting from within: crushed beneath endless war, religious fanaticism, and the weight of its own contradictions. After the death of the Red Emperor, the throne passes to a young Empress who dares to speak of peace - while priests, nobles, and generals sharpen their knives behind her back. To negotiate a truce with the Arya - mountain warriors the Empire has failed to conquer for decades - they send the worst possible person. Lyn is the Archon of This World: a living religious symbol, a washed-up preacher, a former brothel accountant, and an alcoholic barely holding himself together. Cynical, exhausted, and haunted by secrets he cannot escape, he is far more useful as a scapegoat than a diplomat. But the deeper Lyn is drawn into enemy territory, political conspiracies, and the machinery of holy war, the more dangerous everything becomes - especially his growing connection with one of the very people he was taught to hate. Because in Bizanth, love can be more heretical than violence. A Bone From a Bird's Wing is a dark historical fantasy about war, faith, power, trauma, and the slow collapse of empires - perfect for readers who enjoy political fantasy, queer slow burns, morally complicated characters, and anti-war stories steeped in religious intrigue. *** The author had no intention of offending any existing religions or cultures. Bizanth can, with some effort, be loosely associated with Byzantium around the 6th-7th centuries, and Arya (with even more difficulty) with one of the pre-Islamic Iranian peoples, but for the most part, their culture and beliefs are fictional. This text has little to do with history; it contains elements of postmodernism and irony.

The world had gone to hell long ago, taken over by the vampire race. In order to keep some sort of peace in our land, the Vampire Lords made a consecutive agreement. The rich and powerful humans could survive just as they had been, untouched by the vampires save for the occasional blood collections, or so they thought In reality, we were all under their control. Castles spread out throughout our land, one landing in each city. Each castle varied in the number of vampires residing there, but all of them carried a Lord. The Lords were the ones in charge in every city, whether we liked it or not. The vampires often roam through the city, making sure that everyone was in order and no one stepped out of line. If you stepped out of line, you died, end of story. Even if the rich were still under their control, their lives were still better than the poor. The poorest lives held a much worse fate. The men were to be put to work as slaves, whether that meant serving a specific vampire, or just building their castles, they were slaves. The women were to be pets. Pets were the lowest rank you could have. They were forced into cages that were too small to stand in with collars around their necks. They spent their lives in pet shops, just waiting for the dreadful day that they'll be bought. They were treated like animals, trained into what their master wanted, and punished if they misbehaved. Those who were lucky enough to live through that, we're to be slaughtered for their blood at age twenty-five in an act to make sure that our population would stay steady. I was born into this world. Born into this world full of blood-sucking monsters. Except, I was one of the lucky ones. Was. It all ended for me when I was 12, when I was taken away from the last bit of hope and family that I had left. Ever since then, I've lived in a cage, just rotting away, waiting, dreading for the day that some monster would make me his. This is my life. I am a pet. ~~~ Cover by: @mshacake
