During the year of their eighteenth birthday, the women of Grayson must undergo The Awakening- a ceremony in which they are chosen by their mates. In a patriarchy where men rule everything and women are seen as nothing more than instruments for childbearing, Mia has no say in who her husband will be. When the man who chooses her turns out to be cruel and abusive, there is nothing she can do to leave the violent relationship. As is the law in Grayson, she is bound to her husband until death. Feeling trapped and alone in her marriage, Mia finds comfort in her house servant, Ruby. As they grow close, a forbidden love blossoms. Mia wants to flee her marriage and be with Ruby, but fear holds her back. If the government found out about her prohibited relationship, she and Ruby would be sentenced to death. She wants to find happiness, but not at such a high cost. Mia embarks on a journey of romance, betrayal, and rebellion as she tries to find her voice in a place where women were meant to be silent. © Dawn Norwell "Though I'd spent my entire life denying it, I could no longer live a lie. I didn't love my husband. I could never love him. After repressing it for so long, I finally accepted that I was gay. I had always been gay. And no number of threats or scare tactics from the government would change the fact that I would always be gay." _______________________________________________________________________________ "Horribly fascinating!" "Wow, this is so chilling. I can't wait to read more!" "There are ways in which the real world has treated women and homosexuals that mirrors what is happening here. I find it disgusting, intolerable - and that means stories like this need to exist." "This does a great job showing some seriously underrepresented issues in the world :)" #1 in future fantasy 2nd place in The Black and Gold Leaf Awards 3rd place in The Creativity Awards Warning- This story contains domestic violence and sexual assault.

Everyone has a past, for some their past isn't so forgiving. Who they are now is a reflection of who hurt them then. The way they carry themselves, the way they feel and the way they treat others is who they are now because it wasn't enough to protect them from who they were then. Sienna Moore is in her second year of college. Having had a terrible introduction to college in her first year, she now has a lot of making up to do. She plans to get through the next few years with a heap of studying, Library visits and a lot of coffee. The one thing that has been completely banned from Sienna's agenda is boyfriends...no relationships equals no distractions. The only fault in her perfect plan is Cole, she didn't plan for him, not one bit nor could she have ever imagined what would follow from meeting him.

What if you threw your life away and the world threw it back? If you found yourself in credit to the value of one life? Would you spend that credit on a worthy cause, if fate offered up the chance? **** Alone and a long way from home, Nick's big city adventure is not going at all to plan. With his dreams in ruins and his world crumbling around him, he's struggling to see a way out. Ripped from her everyday life, isolated and imprisoned, Mica's one desperate wish is to escape the urbane monster who sees her as nothing more than a plaything. Two lost souls, brought together by the strangest of circumstances, find themselves pitted against a crime lord with no mercy in a city that doesn't care. And with so little left to lose, neither will hesitate to risk it all. "Don't say what you're about to say. You can't. Because, right now, if all of this ends, it doesn't matter. Not quite a prison and not quite a school, Maplethorn is a place where the wealthy and well-connected lock away boys who are lawbreakers, troublemakers, or simply unwanted. But when his roommate disappears, Cam fears Maplethorn is hiding a darker secret. Caught looking for answers in a part of the academy that is off-limits to cadets, Cam is pressured into volunteering for a new type of behavioral therapy. At first, he doesn't feel any different. That is until he discovers he can send a paper airplane shooting across the room without touching it. Welcome to Maplethorn.

- I had my life planned at the age of 8: I would go to Stanford or any IVY school, become a respected attorney, and then hopefully a representative of California, and after that maybe a Senator. Oh, and me being one of the powerful "Miss. Independents" of the world. Not NEEDING any guy other than m brother and his friends. Me and my brother were always close, him being only three years younger than me. I alway joke about him being the golden boy, he has perfect vision (something I am very jealous of with my horribly 175/20 eye vision), and is a social butterfly. He has no problem making new friends everyday. We have the same group of friends, mine being the older sibling of his. When I receive the news that he would be joining me and my friends with his friends at Stanford, I know I'll be in for a treat... Knowing that I'm that kind of sister that's like a soccer mom, baking treats, helping out with the SATs, finals, HSPTs, and their games. That was all that I expected, planned for, or even dreamed of... What I didn't expect? Me finding something that I didn't know I was looking for. And having any association with the QB of the football team.
