Po udalosti, ktorá sa stane v Harry šiestom ročníku sa jeho leto a tým aj život úplne mení. V škole a čarodejníckom svete začne byť odcudzovaný, jeho príbuzní, hlavne niektorí, nie sú práve výhrou v lotérii a za jediné skutočne svetlo na dlhú dobu považoval jeho priateľa, ktorého považuje za brata a prekvapivo sa s ním zoznámil z rovnakého dôvodu ako ho všetci začali odcudzovať. Pri tom kúzelnícky svet ani len netuší akú veľkú chybu robí. Harry sa tak dostáva do úplne iného sveta, dozvedá sa temné priateľstvá tých, ktorých považoval za priaznivcov Brumbála a získava to najdôležitejšie, novú rodinu a postupne si vybojuje aj šťastný život vo svete, kde ľudia neodcudzujú odlišnosť.
