''Why not?'' I demand, not understanding his sudden move of resistance, his gaze watching me up and down while he surrenders and withdraws his gun. He takes a step closer and I can feel his hot breath fanning down my face. I almost flinch, but as I close my eyes, I feel his soft lips plant on my forehead. And then he finally utters a single syllable. ''Because I love you.''
