"Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth." -Marcus Aurelius Every story has two sides, or in this case, seven. High school is filled with teenage angst, excitement, boredom, secrets, judgement, the occasional pregnancies, homework, and much more. Union Valley High is no different. But attending the same high school does not mean ending with the same outcome. See for yourself through the ultimate perspective of seven candidates: An artist, decorating the walls of abandoned [and not so abandoned] buildings during the secrecy that is night. A Brit, forced out of house and home, struggling to please a pretentious parent. A girl suffocating in the shadows of her older sister's perfection. A brat, who holds a thick mask to her face everyday, to avoid the complication of being herself. A blind girl, wishing someone could see past her ability /not/ to see, and love her all the same. A sister of three older brothers with personalities so loud, they drown out any thoughts she may have for herself. And a boy with a good heart and a sarcastic mouth, who wishes he could find his way in the world, but has no idea how to go about that. Seven souls, old and young, just trying to make their way through high school with minimal damage.

Jared Steele had his whole summer planned out. Eat. Sleep. And eat some more. And he was more than fine with that. Just lazing about in the summer. What more could you want? Ally Cain is a total perfectionist and self proclaimed good-girl. When she finds out that a sudden move puts her original summer plans in jeopardy, she is completely thrown for a loop. She can't stand doing nothing and with a long, unoccupied summer ahead she's left with exactly that. But life hardly ever goes according to plan. In a sudden turn of events, Jared is forced on a road trip without a clue as to what in hell is going on and what he's doing. The unlikely duo cross paths and soon find themselves caught up in a mess of spilled cola, watermelon spitting, fat mechanics and annoying GPS systems. Sometimes things don't work out but, hey, that's life. And in life, sometimes you need to go for the detour.

"What comes after this? Will anything come after this? Am I utterly motionless in a frozen sea? Can I do nothing to free myself? Why have I been rejected by the world? I am destined to be a curious child, wondering when God will realize that I am in need of his reassuring embrace." The world turned its back on Jem Cannon, a 12-year old boy, a long time ago. His mother is dead. His father is in jail. His brothers are alcoholics. Every single day is an absolute bore. Jem doesn't know why he even bothers to breathe anymore. Breathing - it can be such a struggle when your heart just isn't in to it. Jem does not want oxygen. He wants relief. He wants a reason to inhale. Who, or what will be his incentive? Someone must teach Jem to breathe again before he topples off the edge of sanity.
