On the quiet morning of the reaping of the 49th annual Mockingjay Games, Rye Spirce doesn't expect anything amazing to occur. Coming from a rather wealthy family from the Seams of Section M, Rye suspects nothing. Until her name is called, and she is now a tribute. She is paired with Cole Mellark, the grandson of Katniss Everdeen-the leader of the Revolution-after volunteering for the place of his younger brother. In the Capitol, Rye soon realizes that she is the secondary character when creating her story before the Games, and that Cole has the spotlight. Now playing the part, Rye tries to use it to get an advantage as the Games approach and she is waiting for the gong to strike.

After surviving the Games, Rye can now return home safely from the Capitol and the Games, before starting the cruel Victory Tour with her fellow tribute Cole. After everything that happened in the Games, Rye keeps reminding herself that it was all an act, but also attempts to at least bond with Cole, so they can make the story more believable. Especially when he reveals that their lives could be at stake if they don't succeed. As the tour ends, rumours are spreading around Panem as the second Quarter Quell is approaching. And then it is announced that the Games will require Rye and Cole to be back in the arena once again. Only this time, it's deadlier. (The Second book in The Mockingjay Games)

Cole Mellark, the Boy On Fire, has survived, even though his home has been destroyed. There are rebels. There are leaders. A revolution is unfolding. After supposedly being rescue from the horrid Quarter Quell, Cole is taken to Section N, also known as District 13, which still stands strong after the once revolution. Now, another one has began, and Cole is supposed to be the face of it all, like his grandmother. Cole is to become the Blue Jay, and unite the sections to fight against the Capitol once again. However, Cole has his mind set on other things. A revolution could mean the end of Panem, as barely enough of the population had survived the last one nearly sixty years ago. And with the other victors, including Rye, captured in the Capitol, he needs to do whatever he can to rescue them and bring them to him safely, which means being responsible for countless lives, and being the rebels' greatest weapon. (The third and final book to the Mockingjay Games)
