"Cassia," He whispered, pulling me closer to his body and going back to kissing my neck. I moaned, never wanting this to end. "Lucas," I sighed, unable to form a thought. "Are we mates?" I managed to get out, so consumed by pleasure. That sentence seemed to slow him down because he stopped, looking me in his eyes, conflict written across his face. He nodded slowly before saying the one thing that was worse than I could have ever imagined. "I'm sorry Cassia," He whispered before sinking his teeth into my neck - making me whimper in pain. No. "I, Lucas Marcatto, deny you, Cassia Richards, as my mate. I'm sorry Cassia. Goodbye." And with that, he walked away from me, my heart breaking with each step he took. Cassia Richards: strong willed, independent, feisty, and doesn't take orders from anyone. Lucas Marcatto: Beta, possessive, strong, controlling , and sure as hell doesn't take disobedience from anyone. What happens when Cassia and Lucas turn out to be mates? Besides the blatant issue of butting heads, there's one more problem, Lucas is six years older than Cassia. So, Lucas denies Cassia, cutting her out of his life but him not out of hers. But, what happens when it comes time for Lucas to face Cassia? Will she want to be with him? Or will she turn away from him like he did to her?

After an Alpha has given up looking for their mate, and they need a Luna to help run the pack, they will organise an event known as The Whipping. Female volunteers from packs around the country will put themselves forward if they wish to be in the chance of becoming a Luna. These she-wolves would be whipped in front of all the packs, again and again until their backs were red raw and blood covered. The last female remaining would be given the title of Luna as the Alpha would only want the strongest wolf to help run his pack. Most wolves gave up and quit as they couldn't take the pain, but some head-strong females would go until they were no longer breathing. It was an ugly tradition, from years ago. I had never heard of one happening in this day and age...until that day... Until I met him... On the day of The Whipping...
