Izuku was returning from completing his mission against the Shie Hassaikai when he returns to something he never even expected. His master telling him that he needs to return the power in order to give it off to someone who will focus all their time on mastering it as well as becoming capable of using 100% of it within the time constraints they have. With all this coming to a head, he relinquishes his power against the mental anguish of the previous users and leaves UA. He never hears how his old mentor had told him that he could stay within the walls of UA, but he just walks away from the school thinking that since he was quirkless... that he doesn't belong there anymore. It was here that he disappeared from Japan, and nobody even knows what happened to him, not even his friends and the girls he loves.
