They release some sort of monster on him and to get away he injects himself with the drug, enhancing his own quirk. Except it isn't temporary, it sticks around. So now he's got a way better, not crappy quirk. Becoming a teenage vigilante is the logical next step, of course. Meeting Eraserhead was purely an accident and anything past that was just bad luck. (obviously I don't own bnha. I feel like all my stories center around U.A and school life so I wanted to shake things up with a character that doesn't enter U.A at all. Ever since my quirk activated, people have called me a monster, a natural disaster, but I didn't care what they thought I was going to become a hero no matter what. I wanted to a hero even if my quirk was considered villainous, my father told me all about the flaws in society and how people like me were treated, but he died in an accident when I was young and it became harder for my mom to spend time with me, so we started to grow apart, but any free time she had, she spent with me and she did try her best to raise me on her own which I'm grateful for.
