He found out that the world he is in with man-eating demons and with slayers called Hashiras or Demon Slayers before he met Tanjiro when he saved him from freezing to death and the two become quick friends as Tanjiro found an older sibling figure with him. But all happy times ended when Optimus and Tanjiro found out about the massacre of Tanjiro's family and discovered that Nezuko was turned into a demon. They both got their first encounter with a demon before they were both took in by a trainer who trained them in the way of Total Concentration Breathing to get into the Demon Slayer Corps It seems that there was more to this world than meets the eye.
