Terran stepped out. “We’re here to see Jack Frost, miss.” I waved my hand. “Enough with ‘miss’es. Call me…Frostbite, if you must.” I smirked, wondering if they would catch the hint I’d so conveniently placed. “O-kay…” Terran trailed off. Hm, guess not. Disappointing. ~ Jacqueline (Jackie) Frost is a myth; a legend told by parents to get their children to behave. Well, at least, that's what they say. What they don't know is that "Jack Frost" does exist. In fact, there's a completely different world out there beyond their capability to understand. A world where the enemy of all kingdoms is stronger and much more powerful than the rest. A world where dark secrets are yet to be revealed. Oh, and can't forget the most important: A world where a teenage girl is the enemy. Huh. Who would've thought?

In the land of Asbon, where peace only exists in broken shards, the legend of a castle has been handed down for generations. Once upon a time, there was a great castle. Everything around it was perfect, and everything inside was beautiful. However, beauty doesn't last. The castle was broken, as was the land. In its place stood the shell of a life. Only a king with no sight and a knight with no stride remained; they guarded the castle of an empty land. Once upon a legend, a girl set out with fire in her eyes. She traveled across lands of rich and ruin, of sea and river. She met those who helped and those who hurt. And, in the end, she found the legend. In the end, she found a lie.

After the accident, nothing seemed right. I walked around like a mindless zombie, having the occasional breakdown that involved me rocking back and forth in the fetal position while muttering about imaginary men in spandex suits and lollipops. I shouldn’t have been too surprised when my grandparents shipped me off to spend the summer with my shrink stepmother in the no-name Texan beach town she lives in. Now, I’m stuck in a town full of crazies. It’s as if Noah’s ark of rejects made a home here, and now most of them are flocking to me. When did I turn into a beacon for insane people? All I want to do is get through this summer without fully cracking and getting a full ride trip to the funny farm. Is that too much to ask? Although, it might be what I deserve after what I did. Karma seems to have it out for me. Or maybe Old Man Wallace—or whatever his name is today—is right, and the androids really are out to get us all. This was supposed to be the perfect escape—a way to get away from everything back home. It’s starting to look like I’m in a summer chick flick gone way, way wrong.
