Prototypes have never been able to cross to the Big World. Lou knows this. He was the first prototype to be made, separate from the other dolls. Different model, different class, different everything. After the rest of the Institute of Perfection found out he hated being a prototype. He's never making it to the Big World and everyone knows that, so he's a cleaner. And he's used for demonstrations in classes by being thrown in the washer, too. Yet, a new prototype model was made. Prototype 2.0. He looks almost exactly like Lou did, but slightly messier. But he's a prototype too. They're both stuck at the Institute, forever. So, they need to get to know one another more. And keep their friendship away from the public's eyes.
